Consciously or unconsciously so many people are looking for peace of mind that meditation brings. We all have our way of finding this peace.
The practice by which there is a constant observation of the mind is the result of. Meditation. Meditation is focusing the mind on one point and stilling the mind in order to perceive the Self. One comes to understand their true nature and discover the wisdom and discover the wisdom and tranquility that lie within by stopping the waves of thoughts.
Focusing on an object, say, or on a manta, repeatedly a person can bring their attention back to the object of concentration, reduces the movement off the mind. In the beginning your mind will wander, but practice make perfect you will succeed at focusing your mind. In the beginning, your attention will wander which is called concentration. The difference of the two is of degree. As Swami Vishnu-devananda explains it: “During concentration, one keeps a tight rein on the mind: during meditation the rein is no longer necessary for the mind stays of its own accord on one single thought wave.
One will discover a greater sense of purpose and strength of will and ones thinking becomes cleaner and more concentrated with continued practice of meditation.
There are two types of meditation. One is concrete or Saguna (with qualities) and the other is abstract or Nirguna (without qualities). With Saguna meditation you focus on a concrete object or a mantra which brings a person to unity. Now in Nirguna meditation, the focus is an abstract idea. Saguna meditation is dualistic- the mediator is separate from the objet of meditation; whereas in Nirguna meditation, the meditator considers himself as one with the object.
One would succeed more quickly with meditation if one would spend more time with a concentrated and centered mind when one is not in a session The most important thing is to keep a positive mind. When thing don/t go right try to stay focus and pull your mind back to a more positive approach and this will help a person to stay calm. By doing this you will notice that external influences are having less effect on you. One will find their mood remains the same, because your inner core is growing stronger.
Meditation itself comes by itself and in its own time. If a person follows the right steps to begin with it will come faster.
